Range Time
Range time is very important. If you are planning on carrying your firearm concealed you should be practicing often. A few reasons to practice are:
To get to know you firearm.
Shooting the firearm allows you to get familiar with it. Its a good idea to feel the recoil and know when the break is going to happen. Feeling the action of the firearm is also important. Knowing what to expect when the slide comes all the way to the rear (the full power of the firearm) is very important.
Hitting the target.
Getting comfortable with your firearm will help you hit the target. Your main goal is to consistently hit the “X”. That’s what we all practice for. Center mass! When you practice often, with or without an instructor, you will train yourself to know and understand what you are doing wrong or right to help get the proper placement on the target. I suggest going to the range with an instructor. A second pair of eyes to tell you why you may be off target is better than going by yourself and not understanding why your placement is off. Instructors are trained to notice certain things that you may not think of.
Practice practice practice.
And finally, just to practice. Practice is the only way that you will get better and more accurate. The old adage practice makes perfect is spot on in this case. The only that you will train yourself and your muscles is practice. There is no down side to practice. If you strive to be the best, practice will give you the edge that your looking for.
These are just a few things to think of for you to become a better shooter and to make you more comfortable with your firearm.
